Cradle Cap

So, Ronan's head and forehead is covered in scales of dry skin. When I first noticed it, I freaked out. I wash this kid everyday, how could he be covered in this yuck, whatever it was? People must be thinking that I neglect this child. That he has never been washed. Or maybe he was not nourished properly and his skin was falling off as a result.

I guess it is another lovely skin condition new babies get quite commonly. Cradle Cap. I am having the worst time looking at it, and keeping my hands off. I want to get it all off, but it doesn't work that way. I have to wait patiently for it to fall off. It could take weeks.

I asked my doctor what could be done. He suggested rubbing olive oil on the kid. Olive oil? I immediately imagined my baby stripped down and sitting in a roasting pan while I based him with extra virgin olive oil (EVOO as Rachel Ray calls it on her cooking show, which I now am bored enough in the mornings to watch).

Maybe I am the only person whose brain works like that, but when people talk to me funny and only slightly related pictures pop into my head and they make me laugh out loud. Whoever I am talking to usually asks what is so funny. When I explain it, almost nobody gets what I am talking about and with good reason.

So instead of basting Ronan like a Christmas turkey, I went to the mall and got a supposedly organic olive oil moisturizing spray.

My first instinct was to try and find something like this at the local Williams Sonoma, but I lucked out and found something at the Body Shop instead. I feel better about this option. No baby basting at my house.

Yet.
By the way, this product seems to work pretty good, and is a lot less greasy than plain olive oil. Plus it smells good.

Some More Baby

Are these not the cutest baby jeans you have ever seen in your life? So freaking cute! Tiny denim.

I bet there are some of you out there saying, "Enough of this baby already!"

I know, I have not posted much else, but it is all I can seem to think about lately, and I have no other material since all I do all day is baby baby baby.

So here is some more on baby.

Auntie Stink came over the other day, and helped me out. She is such a great Aunt. She always offers to take him, especially if he is crying. She changes diapers, and cooks if I have my hands full with the baby. I totally see how it could be handy to be in a polygamist deal. With crazy wives always there to help out with cooking and the abundant number of babies. I think the additional wives are the only reason those chicks can stand to have as many kids as they do. Too bad I can't talk John into getting another wife. She would have to be hideously ugly, and my subordinate/personal assistant.

John attends a singles ward sometimes when he works Sundays, just for Sacrament because it is the only ward in the area that meets at the right time. When he first showed up to that ward the bishop gave him a weird look. John introduced himself and said, "Don't worry I am married, with one on the way." The then bishop gave him a REALLY odd look. I think that he interpreted what John said as in another WIFE on the way. Like he had come to scout out some fresh impressionable young babe for another wife.

I also got a sweet new toy. The baby bjorn. It is so awesome. I can do anything while I hold the kid. He is at a stage where he wants to be totally entertained when he is awake, and this carried does the trick. It kinda feels like being pregnant again, but without a lot of the preggo side effects.

Chillin' with the B

Ronan is starting to spend a lot more of his time awake and looking around. I love it! It is nice to do something with him other than change diapers or feed him.

We like to sit together in our glider and talk. I tell him about all kinds of things. Today we were discussing what he wants to be for Halloween. He was not too vocal on the subject, but that will change.

As you know, we start getting ready for Halloween at the Dunston home in August. That is when all the stores start to carry some Halloween stuff. We took a trip to check out what they had at the local craft stores. Ronan slept through it, but John and I enjoyed looking at everything.

While I am thinking about it, I need to let all of you ladies with little time on your hands know about something magical I discovered during my hospital stay when I had Ronan.

This little time saver came in my hospital gift diaper bag. At first I wondered what it was doing in a diaper bag filled with baby stuff and samples.

May I present the Shick Intuition Razor. Someone in the Shick marketing dept deserves a raise. What a brilliant idea to put in a hospital bag for new moms. After not being able to shave you legs well for so long it was a real treat to have this.

It is amazing. You don't need to mess around with shave gel. It has a block of moisturizer built in and it really works. It actually makes my legs super soft, and best of all it is super fast and easy. Everyone who only gets 2 min to shower before a baby crys should have one.
